Not able to make the meeting? Here is a brief synopsis of the meeting. Documents from the meeting are also attached below.

We had a pre-design public meeting on Thursday, April 25. During the meeting, we described what to expect during the design process and explained some of the basic concepts we are exploring.

The City is considering 2 different alternates to the Typical Section, for the Carolina Pines project:

  • Option 1 has a sidewalk on both sides of the street with bike lanes along the travel lane
  • Option 2 has a sidewalk on one side and a multi-use path on the other side and this eliminates the bike lanes along the travel land and creates a buffer. (This option also has less impact to properties due to a narrower right of way)

The Public Meeting maps have the option 1 on both sides just for this preliminary stage of design while we get public input.

The City is also considering 4 roundabouts:

  • At the Lake Wheeler intersection, instead of a signalized intersection
  • At Granite St. near South Saunders; and,
  • 2 mini-roundabouts at Sardis and Oak.

We are looking to get input from Raleigh residents. Please provide us with your comments before May 9, so we can continue the design process.
